Single Bed 68" x 80" (170 x 200 cm)
Materials
and Cutting
Single
Bed - 2.35 meters of feature fabric cut into 11, 8½" strips across the
fabric from selvedge to selvedge.
.65cm of contrast fabric for the narrow strips, cut into 16, 1½" strips.
80, 4½" squares to tone with feature fabric. Or ten strips across
the fabric, 4½" wide cut into 4½" squares.
.60cm for binding, cut into 2 1/4" strips.
Making
Sew 3 strips of 10
small squares in rows. Trim four of your feature fabric strips
to this length, and 8 of your contrast strips to this length.
Join these pieces as per
photo - contrast, feature, contrast, squares, contrast etc.
Join the remaining 1½"
strips into one long piece. sew a strip of this to each of the long sides of
your centre panel.
Now add a border of the
small squares, a border of the contrast, and a final border of your feature
fabric.
Quilt
and bind.
Large 70" x 63" (180 x 160 cm)
Materials
and Cutting
Feature
Fabric - 2 meters
Cut into 9, 8½" wide strips across the fabric.
Plain
Black - 80cm
Cut into 12, 1½" strips for sashings; and
cut into 6, 2¼" strips for binding.
Colours
- 7 lots of 20cm
Cut into 2, 4" strips from each fabric.
Making
Sew the
4" coloured strips together side by side. Press.
Crosscut 12, 4" wide strips.
Unpick the darkest colour from 6 of these strips.
Join the strips with darkest fabrics together.
You will need 6 strip sets in total.
Using the 1½" black strips, the feature fabric and the 4" pieced
strips, assemble the quilt as per the photo.
